Grey Lynn Farmers Market

At last! A farmers market close to home. Well, that’s not strictly true, when I lived in an apartment in central Wellington there was a farmers market two blocks away, but I was young and child-free and Sunday morning was about sleeping in and reading the paper in bed. Now, forced out of bed before 9 every weekend morning, we’ve discovered all these extra hours in the day, and free activities like farmers markets are a good place to entertain the little ones for an hour or so.
This morning was the first ever Grey Lynn farmers market, and it seemed to be very successful. The produce was great, it was held in the Grey Lynn Community Centre which has a great playground, so that kept the girls very happy, and it was an absolutely stunning day, with a blue sky and lovely sunshine and it was the warmest day for a long time.
There was also a face painter, which was excellent as the girls love face painting, and queued patiently for half an hour for her. Lulu is a unicorn, in case you find the picture confusing. This meant we sat in the sun drinking our coffees reading the free Sunday Star Times that a bloke was handing out for some reason. Bess was patted about 20 times by little children, and spent most of her time trying to steal the muffin we were sharing.
I bought some lettuce and tomato plants, so after shoveling a tonne of compost into the garden, I’ve now planted a garden full of salad vegetables. Yum.

Good grief they have both grown up about two years since we last saw tham. Even with face paint which looked great i can’t get over how much older they both look.
I agree with Pam….. Had to look very closely to make sure they were our granddaughters! Can’t believe how much they have changed since we lat saw them!
